Came across a great list of the original SOG knives that were procured for the Studies and Observation Group during the Vietnam war. Many of these knives are the inspiration for SOG Specialty Knives and the direct influence for the SOG Bowie Commemorative. Actually, it is manufactured in one of the same factories as the Vietnam era knives. our version has some slight changes from the original but we tired to keep the spirit alive on our version.

So take a moment and look through the descriptions and images of the SOG knives on the Military Fighting Knives website.

While I was browsing around the internet this morning I found a nice review of the Spec Elite on Bladeforums. If you are not a member go sign up for a free account and read the review.

Also, the people at Lifeview Outdoors who produced a great DVD on short-term wilderness survival, titled Prepared to Survive, did a nice write up on the Spec Elite. So if you have not checked this knife out I think that you might be surprised at the strength and versatility of the Spec Elite.
