Hunter Revovler praise…

Friday, November 30th, 2007

I recently received this comment from Joe Norman, Whitetail Deer expert.

SOG,
I would like to personally thank you for your commitment to excellence. I have carried the SOG Revolver on every hunt I have went on. There is truly nothing that compares to the revolver. I have cut numerous limbs and small trees out of my way during stand placement and I have also cleaned one bear and five whitetail deer and the saw and knife are both as sharp as the day I got it. Every hunter needs this and it is so convienent to carry. Thanks again……

VG-10 Upgrade

Thursday, November 15th, 2007

We have been working on this for a couple months and I am happy to finally announce that almost all of our Arc-Lock knives are now being produced with VG-10 blades. This now includes the X-Ray Vision, Vision, Mini X-Ray Vision, Pentagon Elite I and II, Spec Elite I. Also, this was done with out increasing the cost of these knives. If you have been holding off on buying one of these knives, you no longer have an excuse. We were also able to do this with out raising prices.

The blades are stamped with VG-10 and should be showing up in stores any day now.

Chantrelle Mushrooms

Wednesday, November 7th, 2007

One of the things I like about living in Washington is the great diversity of environments here. We have rain forest, wetlands, high desert, mountains with glaciers, and much more. I also like to get out from time to time and explore the wilderness in the area. Recently I friend of mine got the bug to figure out how to forage for chantrelle mushrooms. I know it sounds weird to go searching in the woods for mushrooms but it was quite fun.

This is a picture of the basket of mushrooms at the beginning of the day. We ended up getting a little over a pound of mushrooms and made a great dinner that night. We got a little skunked this time mostly because someone had been through the area the day before. We found tracks and some cut mushroom that had been dropped. On previous trips in the same area my friend had found upwards of 7 pounds of them.

I would highly recommend that if you get the chance to go out and forage for some chantrelle mushroom. For more information check out the following resources

SOG PowerLock images

Monday, November 5th, 2007

Jake with multi-tool.org posted some nice images on flickr comparing the SOG PowerLock wire cutter and the SwissTool. Here are his comments and some pictures.

The wire cutter on SOG’s new PowerLock is wider and has a much better edge than the wire cutter on most other multi-tools. I was able to cut lamp cord with it whereas most other multi-tools make a mess of finely stranded wire.

This photo shows the SwissTool Spirit jammed on lamp cord (right panel). I can actually suspend the SwissTool Spirit by the wire. It didn’t take a lot of force but I did have to pry the SwissTool Spirit jaws apart. It had just mashed the wires rather than cutting them (left panel). The clean ends were cut with the new SOG PowerLock.
