The SEAL Pup Elite was just named the 2010 Outdoor Life Editor’s Choice award for survival knives. We are obviously very happy about this.  If you get a chance go buy the February 2010 issue of Outdoor Life or visit their website at and read a short review of the SEAL Pup Elite.

SOG Creed Chopping & Whittling

Thursday, December 3rd, 2009

Just came across a great video of the new SOG Creed in action.  Take a couple minutes and check it out.

Actually after watching the video I feel the need to go out and chop some firewood for the evening.

Throwing Knives Review

Tuesday, September 22nd, 2009

If you get a chance check out the November issue of Tactical Knives.  They do a great review of the SOG Throwing knives and Spirit.

Here is what he said about the Fulcrum throwing knives:

Built For Balance
The two throwers sport a unique balancing feature on the blades, giving the user the option of changing the weight distribution of the knives. Constructed of brass discs connected by a screw through the knives, these weights can be adjusted anywhere along the handle of the knife. The knobs are easily tightened by hand, and there is a large flathead screwdriver notch should the user want to tighten or loosen it more. I talked about how I like to throw bigger blades, but what happens when the small blade starts acting like its big brother?

According to the author he likes the Spirit and here is what he said

Broom of Doom
I attached the piercing weapon onto the end of a broomstick, stepped back about 20 feet and took aim at my pumpkin foe. On the second try the tip went through the pumpkin cleanly and into the wood behind it. I have other spears, but the head on the SOG Spirit is smaller, so it can be thrown farther with less effort. This size spear, more of a javelin, is rare on the market and is a welcome addition.

I suggest that if you get the chance go to the news stand and get this issue of Tactical Knives.

SOG on Entourage

Tuesday, August 25th, 2009

Just got word that one of our knives was featured on the HBO show Entourage this weekend. I have a screen capture of the scene with the SOG Tigershark Elite.
Picture 2

In the scene Vince and Turtle are at a local gun shop looking for a gun to protect themselves from a burglar that broke in their house the night before.  They were disappointed to find out that there is 10 day waiting period. As they needed something to protect themselves now.

At that point the guy behind the counter asks “Do you like knives?” and pulls out the Tigershark Elite.

Update:  We got a clip of the scene.  Check it out below.

Knife Wire Work

Monday, April 27th, 2009

I know that this does not directly relate to SOG knvies but I found this quite interesting.  Ben Potter wrote a great piece an adding wire detail work on a knife blade.  After reading the article I really wish I had the space and know how to do things like this.  I’d say it is worth a quick read.

Tigershark signed by Terry O’Quinn

Monday, April 6th, 2009

I was cleaning out some drawers here and came across a knife that SOG received from the folks at LOST.  It was signed by Terry O’Quinn who plays John Locke.  Check out the photos of the knife.  I was really excited to get this and I think we will have it framed and hang it on the wall in the lobby.

SOG Field Pup Comment

Monday, March 23rd, 2009

Just received this comment from a happy user of the SOG Field Pup. It is always nice to hear from our customers that they like their knives.

Dear Spencer,

Just a quick letter to let you know how much I’ve enjoyed my new SOG Field Pup.  I had been researching a knife for field dressing large and small game that would stay sharp plus be designed in a way that allows for the knife to rest into the palm of your hand without restriction and fatigue for long periods of time.  After 4 hours with my cousin dressing out a 1,200 lbs. Canadian Western Moose.  I knew I made the right choose.

Sincerely,

Brian
OH.

Check for more information check out the Field Pup.  It is definitely a great little knife that is sometimes over looked for the more popular and larger knives.  Whether you get a Field Pup or not you can go wrong.
